Modern Spring Tea Party Ideas (with Tea Leaf Readings)

Oh, tea parties! Thinking about them takes me straight back to childhood when my sister and I would get dressed up in vintage dresses + hats and our mom would set up our tea set on our white wicker play table & chairs. Even though we never actually drank tea (always hot cocoa with added sugar cubes...um, can you say sugar rush?!), it was fun to get all dressed up and pretend to be proper and fancy.

I thought it would be fun to reinvent the childhood tea party into a slightly more grown-up (although decidedly charming and nostalgic) affair. Full of bright colors and patterns, delicious treats, twee music and fun activities, check out our party plan below.

Things We Heart: Ice Cream Cone Art

ICE CREAM CONE ART ROUNDUP from Honey and Smoke Studio - Intro image from Designlovefest

If there is one thing we love here at Honey and Smoke Studio, it is ICE CREAM CONES. I am a HUGE sweets/candy person and ice cream cones are right up there in my top five favorite sweets, along with jellybeans, swedish fish, caramel cake and circus animal cookies. Sugar will be the death of me but at least it will be a yummy death.

Recently, I've been noticing a lot of ice cream cone-themed art and have been dreaming up the perfect ice cream cone gallery wall for my dining room. Check out some of my finds below!

Spring/Summer Capsule Wardrobe: Five Dresses for Work

Spring/Summer Capsule Wardrobe: Five Dresses for Work from Honey and Smoke Studio
I've been itching to completely redo my wardrobe for some time now. And with the changing of the seasons and the warmer weather we've been having in the south, it feels like the perfect time to dream up a spring/summer capsule wardrobe. I also thought it would be fun to post my finds here, in a sort of mini-series, to show off some cute and affordable seasonal pieces to wear over the next six months.

My magic capsule wardrobe number is FIVE. So I'll be posting clothing categories in fives, like five dresses for work/five dresses for play, five tops for work,/five tops for play, etc. I'll end up with a spring/summer capsule wardrobe of 30 items (not including accessories, bags, shoes or cardigans). Note that I spend most of my time at work in an office setting (8:00-5:00 ERRYDAY) so this particular plan and type of work clothing is what works for me and my personal lifestyle and should be altered to fit your lifestyle, especially if you don't work in an office setting.

I'm kicking off the first installment of my spring/summer capsule wardrobe with five dresses for work. To me, dresses are by far the EASIEST thing to wear to work (as long as it fits well and is comfy). All you have to do is slip it on, throw on some shoes + accessories and you're out the door. See below for some fun warm weather work-appropriate dresses.

Spring 2016 To Do List

Spring 2016 To Do List from Honey and Smoke Studio // Flower Bomb photo from Designlovefest

Warm sunny days, cool breezy nights, cicadas humming, pollen coating everything, ants in my kitchen - spring has sprung, you guys! I am always shocked at the difference the transition from winter into spring makes in my life. I don’t feel like I hate winter all that much, but when the days are longer and warm enough to bare my legs, I am overwhelmed with good feels and serotonin coursing through my body. It feels like I turn into a whole new person. And I love it. I had many laughs over this Loft/Busy Philipps video because I can COMPLETELY identify with that springtime manic-ness. Check out my spring to do list below for a little bit of springtime craziness and a lot of springtime fun.

1. Create a hula hoop workout routine to help stay fit while having fun.
2. Make a colorful clutch for warm evenings out on the town.
3. Sort through and refresh nail polish collection.
4. KonMari the bookshelves.
5. Go on a date for fresh Mexican food and margaritas.
6. Visit friends in Denver, CO.
7. Dream up a spring/summer capsule wardrobe.
8. Reread an old favorite book.
9. Add some new flair to pin collection.
10. Sew pom poms on a throw pillow.

We’ll be checking off the items on our Spring To Do List over the next three months and posting about them on here or on our Instagram so be sure to follow us @honeyandsmokestudio. If you feel like joining in, tag your Spring To Do List posts with #honeyandsmokespringtodolist.
